The National Instruments BNC-2096 Front-End Transducer Electronic Data Sheet Module (TEDS) is designed to work simultaneously with SCXI-153 and NI 447 modules. The BNC-2096 is used to enhance these modules with transducer electronic data sheet capabilities. The BNC-2096 can be interfaced directly with IEEE 1451.4 sensors, which will deliver improved system configuration and enhanced diagnostics. This will also result in reduced downtime and better sensor data management for the user. The BNC-2096 can also be configured with other BNC-2096 accessories for a high-channel count application.

The BNC-2096 is used to pass an analog signal from the IEEE 1451.4 smart TEDS sensor, to the National Instruments 4472, 4474, SCXI-1530, or SCXI-1531 devices for conditioning and digitizing, following which it then transmits the digital TEDS content to the PC.
