Overview

Product overview

Key product information and technical features.

The SWB-2817 belongs to NI's modular SwitchBlock matrix-switching platform. Each card occupies one relay-card position in a carrier, allowing matrix capacity to be assembled from individual cards.

The PXI-2800 carrier occupies four PXI slots, holds up to six SwitchBlock matrix modules, and provides an integrated analog bus for combining matrices. Cable selection and the card's A/B variant should be checked before planning external row connections.

  • 1-wire matrix topology.
  • Uses one SwitchBlock relay-card position.
  • Supports carrier-based matrix expansion through the SwitchBlock analog bus.

FAQ

Product-specific questions

Product-specific answers based on available technical information.

Can the SWB-2817 be used directly in a PXI chassis?

No. It requires the PXI-2800 Carrier Module for SwitchBlock and is not a stand-alone PXI module.

Is 0.3 A the switching-current rating?

No. Maximum switching current is 0.25 A per channel; 0.3 A is the maximum carry current. The 3 W switching-power limit also applies.

Does every SWB-2817 have external row access?

The NI 2817A/B pinout differs: analog-bus pins are connected on the A variant and marked no-connect on the B variant. Confirm the installed variant before planning external row access.
