The PXI-2512 sits between test equipment and a device under test. Closed feedthrough paths provide normal signal connections; controlled fault states simulate open connections, pin-to-pin shorts, shorts to battery voltage and shorts to ground.

NI describes its use in validating control systems such as engine control units and full authority digital engine controls. NI also documents integration with VeriStand through fault insertion custom-device functionality.
