The NI-9516 connects a CompactRIO motion-control system to an external servo drive. NI documents an analog ±10 V interface and an NI 9514/16-to-AKD cable option for supported AKD drive configurations.

For NI 951x systems using SoftMotion and the RIO Scan Engine, control loops, encoder settings, and drive signals are configured in the LabVIEW project without requiring FPGA programming.
