Does the PXI-2593 include internal termination?

No. Terminated configurations use external loads. Break-before-make operation briefly leaves channels unterminated during switching, so sensitive active sources require particular care.

Can it operate as more than a 16x1 multiplexer?

Yes. NI also documents dual 8x1 and quad 3x1 unterminated multiplexers, externally terminated configurations, and an 18-terminal flexible sparse matrix.
