Overview

Product overview

Key product information and technical features.

This module supplies the programmable FPGA portion of a modular FlexRIO system. A compatible FlexRIO adapter module defines the physical signal inputs and outputs, while LabVIEW provides the FPGA programming environment.

The PXIe-7962R and PXIe-7961R use the same SX50T FPGA resources, but the PXIe-7962R adds 512 MB of onboard DRAM. This distinction matters when comparing designs that require external memory.

  • Virtex-5 SX50T FPGA with 8,160 slices for user-defined logic.
  • 288 DSP slices and 4,752 kbit of embedded block RAM.
  • Two 256 MB DRAM banks, each with a maximum theoretical bandwidth of 1.6 GB/s.
  • Modular adapter interface separates FPGA processing from application-specific physical I/O.

FAQ

Product-specific questions

Product-specific answers based on available technical information.

Why does the documentation use PXIe-7962R?

NI's PXIe-7962 certification page explicitly identifies the hardware as PXIe-7962R. The catalog retains PXIe-7962, while the technical manual uses the R-suffix designation.

How does its memory differ from the PXIe-7961?

NI lists 512 MB of DRAM for the PXIe-7962R and no onboard DRAM for the PXIe-7961R. Both use a Virtex-5 SX50T FPGA.

Which chassis slots support this module?

The installation guide specifies x4, x8, and x16 PXI Express slots or PXI Express hybrid slots.
