PXIe-7966

The NI PXIe-7966 is a PXI Express FPGA module for FlexRIO with a Virtex-5 SX95T FPGA and 512 MB onboard DRAM. It provides configurable digital I/O and supports custom instruments programmed with LabVIEW FPGA.

The PXIe-7966 provides the FPGA processing portion of a modular FlexRIO instrument. NI documents the module with a Virtex-5 SX95T FPGA, onboard memory, and a PXI Express interface.

FlexRIO adapter modules provide the application-facing analog or digital I/O. Peer-to-peer streaming supports direct data transfers between supported modules without routing the data through the host processor.

Why do some NI documents call this module PXIe-7966R?

NI's product support page uses PXIe-7966, while its FlexRIO installation guide and FPGA resource tables use PXIe-7966R. The catalog model is retained as PXIe-7966.

Does the PXIe-7966 provide analog I/O directly?

NI describes the FPGA module as providing configurable digital lines. Analog I/O is provided through an appropriate FlexRIO adapter module.
