Overview

Product overview

Key product information and technical features.

The PCI-GPIB connects a PCI-equipped computer to GPIB instrumentation. It supports conventional IEEE 488.1 three-wire interlocked transfers as well as the HS488 noninterlocked handshake.

NI documents TNT4882C and TNT5004 board implementations under the PCI-GPIB identity. Check the assembly marking and the selected driver release before integrating the interface into an existing system.

  • Plug-and-play interface for PCI-equipped PCs and workstations.
  • Supports IEEE 488.1 interlocked and HS488 noninterlocked handshakes.
  • Bus-master DMA handles data transfers without microprocessor interruptions.

FAQ

Product-specific questions

Product-specific answers based on available technical information.

Which driver does the PCI-GPIB use?

NI identifies NI-488.2 and NI-VISA for use with these boards. Select driver releases that support the intended operating system and application environment.

Are all PCI-GPIB boards the same hardware revision?

No. NI documents PCI-GPIB/TNT4882C and PCI-GPIB/TNT5004 implementations, identifiable by the assembly number printed on the board. Their operating-system support differs for Mac Classic.

Is PCI-GPIB a PCI Express card?

No. PCI-GPIB uses PCI expansion slots. NI's installation guide treats PCI and PCI Express boards as separate interface types.
