The National Instruments PXI-8464 Series Controller Area Network (CAN) Interfaces are a 2-port transceiver-selectable controller area network (CAN) interface designed for communicating with high-speed, low-speed, or single-wire CAN devices. The appropriate transceiver for each port is selected in a configuration utility or in the application. NI CAN modules for PXI use the Philips SJA1000 CAN controller for advanced functionality such as listen-only, self-reception (echo), and advanced filtering modes and use new transceivers for sleep/wake-up mode. You can synchronize CAN, data acquisition (DAQ), vision, and motion modules using the PXI trigger bus. All National Instruments CAN interfaces are designed to meet the physical and electrical requirements for in-vehicle (automotive) networks based on CAN.
What are the differences between the Series 1 and Series 2 CAN boards?
Series 1 boards could communicate by either DeviceNet or CAN, but for Series 2 this functionality was separated into different products. Because of this, Series 1 cards require an older version of the NI-CAN driver to be used since Series 2 phased the Series 1 cards out.
