The CFP-2000 provides controller functionality rather than fixed analog or digital measurement channels. A complete system uses a separate Compact FieldPoint backplane, I/O modules and field-wiring accessories.

With the LabVIEW RT engine, the controller can execute applications without a host PC. An Ethernet-connected host can display measurement results and status information and change controller settings.

Is the CFP-2000 an I/O module?

No. It is the real-time controller for a Compact FieldPoint system. Separate I/O modules provide measurement and output channels.

Does the CFP-2000 support Gigabit Ethernet?

No. NI specifies 10BaseT and 100BaseTX Ethernet with automatically negotiated 10 or 100 Mbps communication.

Does the controller itself provide eight I/O slots?

No. The I/O slots belong to the separate backplane. The Compact FieldPoint system can use a cFP-BP-4 or cFP-BP-8 backplane.
