In switch/DMM systems, the SCXI-1357 provides a rear-backplane connection between supported SCXI switches and a DMM's AUX I/O. NI documents configurations using separate PXI and SCXI chassis as well as the PXI-1050 combination chassis.

Control and analog routing are distinct: digital signals reach the communicating switch, while HVAB signals are shared among switches connected to that bus.

Supports AUX-connected switch/DMM control configurations.
Provides shared analog routing for HVAB-capable switches.
Supports controlling or triggering SCXI switches through appropriate AUX cabling.

Is the SCXI-1357 the USB version?

No. NI distinguishes the externally controlled SCXI-1357 from the USB-1357 computer-connected kit.

Does every supported switch use the analog backplane?

No. Control compatibility does not imply HVAB routing capability. NI identifies SCXI-1127, SCXI-1128, SCXI-1129 and SCXI-1175 for shared high-voltage routing.

How are analog signals connected to a DMM?

NI describes the HV8-BAN4 cable for connecting the SCXI high-voltage backplane to an NI DMM. This is separate from AUX control and trigger cabling.
