The PXIe-8234 adds dual-port Ethernet connectivity to a PXI Express system. NI distinguishes the Ethernet interface configuration from the configuration supplied with Vision Acquisition Software; both use the PXIe-8234 model designation.

For GigE Vision acquisition, NI describes simultaneous full Gigabit Ethernet image transfer on both ports with low CPU load. Software entitlement must be checked separately for the particular module.

Does the PXIe-8234 require a PXI Express slot?

Yes. NI specifies a peripheral slot supporting an x4 PCIe connection, either PXIe/cPCIe or PXIe hybrid. A conventional PXI-only slot is not suitable.

Does every PXIe-8234 include Vision Acquisition Software?

No. NI identifies 780244-01 as the configuration without a Vision Acquisition Software license and 780263-01 as the configuration with that software. This catalog record does not establish the software entitlement for the individual module.
