The PXIe-7820 combines a user-programmable FPGA with 128 bidirectional digital channels on a PXI Express module. Its front connections use VHDCI connectors and single-ended signaling, with supported digital logic levels from 1.2 V to 3.3 V.

With LabVIEW FPGA, digital lines can be configured for inputs, outputs, counter/timers, PWM, encoder inputs, or specialized communication protocols. Onboard FPGA processing supports custom decision making and hardware-timed execution.

The module supports maximum acquisition and generation rates of 80 MHz, four external clock inputs, and peer-to-peer streaming. Listed onboard memory and DRAM capacities are both 0 MB.
