The PXIe-6612 provides counter/timer functions within the PXI platform through a PXI Express interface. It performs encoder position measurement, event counting, period measurement, pulse-width measurement, frequency measurement, pulse generation and pulse-train generation.

The module includes digital debouncing filters, TTL/CMOS-compatible digital I/O and support for three simultaneous high-speed DMA transfers. Its specified operating temperature range is 0 °C to 55 °C.
