The PXI-2503 provides configurable signal routing within a PXI measurement system. Terminal block selection determines its multiplexer or matrix arrangement; NI documents a 48×1 single-wire multiplexer configuration with the TB-2605 and a 4×6 matrix configuration with the TB-2606.

For sensor connections, the compatible TB-2605 isothermal terminal block accommodates thermocouples, RTDs, thermistors, and voltage signals. Its cold-junction temperature sensor and isothermal construction support thermocouple measurement connections.

Can the PXI-2503 operate as both a multiplexer and a matrix?

Yes. NI specifies multiplexer and matrix operation using different terminal block accessories. Select the terminal block and wiring for the required topology.

Which terminal block supports thermocouple connections?

The TB-2605 connects directly to the PXI-2503 and provides isothermal screw terminals plus a thermistor cold-junction temperature sensor for thermocouple measurements.

Can multiple PXI-2503 modules form a larger matrix?

Yes. NI describes connecting rows or columns between TB-2606 terminal blocks to expand the matrix. The analog bus connectors cannot be used for matrix expansion.
