The PXI-2501 provides FET-based signal switching within the NI PXI platform. NI documents both multiplexer and matrix operation, allowing its routing arrangement to be selected for the measurement system rather than treating it as a fixed-topology switch.

The TB-2605 provides direct front-panel screw-terminal connectivity for multiplexer applications. For matrix operation, NI documents the TB-2606 and explains how multiple modules can be wired together to expand the matrix.

One-, two-, and four-wire multiplexer topologies support different signal-routing arrangements.
TB-2605 isothermal terminal-block connectivity supports thermocouples, RTDs, thermistors, and voltage signals.

Can the PXI-2501 operate as both a multiplexer and a matrix?

Yes. NI documents multiplexer configurations and a 4×6 matrix configuration using TB-2606 connectivity.

Which terminal block supports multiplexer signal connections?

NI lists the TB-2605 for PXI-2501 multiplexer connectivity. It connects directly to the front-panel I/O connector and provides screw terminals.

How can the matrix be expanded?

NI documents connecting corresponding rows or columns between TB-2606 terminal blocks. Two modules can form a 4×12 matrix; three can form a 12×6 matrix. Analog bus connectors cannot be used for this expansion.
