The PCIe-8362 provides the computer-side interface in an MXI-Express remote-control system. NI documents configurations using a PXI-8360 in a PXI chassis or a PXIe-8360 in a PXI Express chassis, connected by MXI-Express x1 copper cable.

Its two downstream connections allow two chassis to connect directly to the desktop host in parallel, rather than routing the second chassis through the first.

Can the PCIe-8362 connect to two chassis?

Yes. Its two MXI-Express connections support two supported chassis connected directly to the desktop PC in a star topology.

Does an MXI-Express x4 connection work with this x1 interface?

No. NI states that MXI-Express x4 cards are not compatible with MXI-Express x1 connections.

What should be checked before using BIOS Compatibility Software?

Check the board part number and revision. NI lists PCIe-8362 board family 190735x-01L revision B and later, and 191376x-01 revision E and later, with minimum BIOS Compatibility Software version 1.5.
