NI PXIe-6556

NI PXIE-6556 is a 200 MHz PXI Express digital waveform instrument that NI describes as a 24-channel module with onboard PPMU and active load. NI identifies it as a digital waveform generator and analyzer for interfacing, characterization, and DC parametric testing, using 24 single-ended digital pins in a 2-slot PXI Express form factor. The module is a primary instrument module rather than an accessory.

The PXIe-6556 provides 24 PPMU-enabled data channels with per-channel direction control. According to NI specifications, both digital generation and acquisition are single-ended and ground-referenced, with maximum data rates of 200 Mbps per channel for generation and 200 Mbps per channel for acquisition. Generation voltage is software-selectable from -2 V to 6 V by default or -1 V to 7 V, while acquisition threshold range is -2 V to 7 V. NI also specifies 122 µV resolution for generation and acquisition/termination settings, plus a minimum detectable voltage swing of 50 mV.

For DUT loading and parametric measurements, NI specifies software-selectable input impedance of high-impedance or 50 Ω terminated into VTT, nominal 50 Ω output impedance, and maximum allowed DC drive strength of ±35 mA nominal per channel. The per-channel programmable active load ranges from 1.5 mA to 24 mA with 488 nA resolution. The onboard PPMU supports force-voltage ranges of -2 V to 6 V by default or -1 V to 7 V, current ranges from ±2 µA through ±32 mA, and voltage measurement from -2 V to 7 V with 228 µV resolution.
