The PCI-FLEXMOTION-6C installs in a PCI host slot and provides motion-control functions through the FlexMotion software environment. NI distinguishes this PCI model from the ISA-based PC-FlexMotion-6C.

NI's FlexMotion architecture combines an onboard microprocessor, digital signal processor, encoder-related logic, and dedicated motion I/O. The FlexMotion-6C implementation includes eight analog input channels and 24 bits of general-purpose digital I/O.

Software version selection is important when maintaining an existing system. NI's NI-Motion 6.0 readme explicitly excludes FlexMotion-6C controllers and recommends continuing with FlexMotion 5.1.x.
