Overview

Product overview

Key product information and technical features.

The FP-1001 is the serial network interface for a FieldPoint bank, rather than a measurement I/O module. Its built-in supply regulates external DC power for the attached I/O modules.

NI documents a nominal host cabling distance of 4,000 ft for the FP-1001, subject to the RS-485 installation requirements in the user manual. Each bank supports up to nine terminal bases.

  • Isolated RS-485 connection to a host or FP-1000 repeater port.
  • ASCII communications protocol compatible with Optomux.
  • Switch-selectable network address and baud rate.
  • Mounts on standard 35 mm DIN rail.

FAQ

Product-specific questions

Product-specific answers based on available technical information.

How does the FP-1001 differ from the FP-1000?

The FP-1001 has one RS-485 port. The FP-1000 has an RS-232 port and an RS-485 repeater port.

How many FP-1001 modules can share a host connection?

NI documents up to 25 FP-1001 modules on one host RS-485 port, or up to 24 connected to an FP-1000 repeater port.

What power supply does a FieldPoint bank require?

Use an 11–30 VDC supply. NI recommends at least 15 W for up to five I/O modules and 20 W for six to nine; check individual module requirements.
