No. NI lists multiple frequency and amplitude configurations, including options with a PXIe-5696 amplitude extender. Verify the exact part number before selecting operating limits.

Can the PXIe-5654 lock to an external frequency reference?

Yes. REF IN supports locking to an external reference. NI cautions that frequency locking does not make the generated RF signals phase-synchronized.

Does NI-RFSG support arbitrary-waveform generation on the PXIe-5654?

The NI-RFSG generation-mode documentation lists CW support only for the PXIe-5654 and PXIe-5654 with PXIe-5696.
