The cDAQ-9189 is a chassis, not a standalone I/O module. Its C Series module selection determines the measurement mix, allowing analog I/O, digital I/O and counter/timer functions in one Ethernet system.

An integrated network switch supports daisy-chaining, while TSN provides network-based synchronization for distributed measurements.

Eight slots for configuring a mix of C Series I/O modules.
Two internally switched Ethernet ports support line topologies or network redundancy.

Does the cDAQ-9189 have one or two Ethernet ports?

It has two internally switched Ethernet ports, each supporting auto-negotiated 10/100/1000 Mb/s communication.

Does the chassis provide a fixed 16-bit analog input specification?

Do not use a fixed chassis-level resolution when selecting this system. Check the installed C Series module specifications; the chassis documentation also identifies analog input channel count and maximum sample rate as module-dependent.

Can the cDAQ-9189 be used outdoors without protection?

NI specifies indoor use and IP40 protection. Its specifications call for industrial enclosures to protect the device in harsh, dirty or wet environments.
