The National Instruments SCXI-1346 is a shielded multichassis cable adapter for daisy-chained SCXI systems. It connects an appropriate SCXI module to the DAQ device or preceding chassis and provides an onward connection to the next chassis.

The SCXI-1346 provides the intermediate connection points in a multichassis SCXI installation. NI's three-chassis example uses SCXI-1346 adapters on the first two chassis and an SCXI-1349 adapter on the final chassis, with SH6868 cables linking the system.

Installation requires selecting the appropriate communicating SCXI module, configuring module jumpers where required, and assigning distinct chassis addresses. The adapter is not a universal pass-through: NI documents specific analog-channel remapping between its upstream and downstream connectors.

Separate upstream and next-chassis connectors support daisy-chain cabling.
Rear 50-pin female connector mates with the appropriate SCXI module's rear male connector.
Includes a 50-pin breakout connection that NI restricts to use with the SCXI-1180 feedthrough panel.

Is the SCXI-1346 a cable or an adapter?

NI identifies it as a shielded multichassis cable adapter. Interconnecting SH6868 cables are listed separately in NI's multichassis installation example.

What connects to the final chassis?

In NI's documented three-chassis arrangement, the first two chassis use SCXI-1346 adapters and the final chassis uses an SCXI-1349 adapter.
