CDAQ-9184

The NI cDAQ-9184 is a four-slot Ethernet CompactDAQ chassis for remote or distributed sensor measurements. It manages timing, synchronization, and data transfer between installed C Series I/O modules and an external host.

The cDAQ-9184 is a chassis rather than a standalone I/O module. Installed C Series modules provide the measurement interfaces, allowing a system to combine analog I/O, digital I/O, and counter/timer measurements.

Ethernet communication uses NI-DAQmx. The chassis is not a direct Modbus or EtherNet/IP endpoint.

  • Four slots for C Series I/O modules.
  • Four 32-bit general-purpose counters accessed through an installed hardware-timed digital C Series module.

Can the cDAQ-9184 communicate directly using Modbus or EtherNet/IP?

No. NI specifies NI-DAQmx as the communication driver for Ethernet cDAQ devices, rather than direct industrial-protocol communication.

What installation conditions apply near the temperature limits?

Below 0 °C, use a power supply rated for that temperature. From 45 to 55 °C, NI requires horizontal mounting to a metal panel or surface.
